Coming Home

It is a beautiful day in Dublin,  but it is time to go home. My flight leaves at 12:15, a very civilized hour. I was able to have a nice breakfast and then took the hotel bus to the airport. I went 3 hours early just in case there were issues. No issues. Everyone was very friendly and I was through security in no time. Our flight was delayed by almost an hour but we were able to make up the time and were only 15 minutes late arriving in Reykjavik, Iceland. It is a small airport and the land around it is completely flat. You can’t see the city from the airport. Customs was way easy. Four people from the airport called us over to ask the usual questions one at a time.

I ordered a shrimp salad and a gin tonic that was on sale.😊It was delicious. But, I have no idea what it cost. They have there own currency. The whole meal cost almost 2000 something!

A disappointment with traveling Icelandair is that you have to pay for food, alcoholic drinks and headphones. It use to be on international long flights you got food, drinks and movies. Well, now you get movies with your own headphones.

I got home about 12:30 this morning. Before climbing into bed with Doug I took an antigen test and it came back positive. Yikes! So, I kept my mask on and headed for the couch. Tom and Dan were both here. We all got up early to see Dan off this morning. I am so grateful to both Dan and Tom and to Moe who we hired to come in and help Doug each day to get up and get to bed.

So, what is my big take away from this pilgrimage? I am still processing it. This is what I think. God is present in everything around us. We need to take the time to open our eyes to this all of the time. We don’t  live as individuals. We live as part of a bigger plan. We are an extension and connected to our ancestors just as much as we are a part of what comes after us. We are connected to each other. We are called to serve. Not just those close to us but strangers as well. And we are called to care for this planet like we care for our sister and brother.

Prayer:

Holy One, omnipotent and omnipresent, open my eyes with wonder and joy in seeing you in every aspect of my life and in creation that surrounds me. Help me to love all that I meet and help me to take seriously your love for all creation, so that my life is reflected not only in what I say but also in what I do. May I be an instrument of your love and peace. Amen
